Dna Certificates

What is everyones thoughts on Dna Certificates for pigeons to ensure that the bird is 100% from said parents. Does it increase the pigeons value? Does it increase the trust for the customer? Or is it actually all for nothing

I wouldn’t spend any real money on a bird without it. All my breeders have one so I know exactly what I have. I have also tested all the breeds for the performance genes, and that has thrown up some interesting results.

I know you can a couple of ways around the ringing age but would love to sex my older ybs each year

We have a couple methods to tell their age by young already by ourself. But sometimes to be 100% sure theres a place nearby we send 3 feathers to from the youngster and 2-3 days later we get back a certificate with the sex of the pigeon. Costs us about 10€

I wouldn’t spend any real money on a bird without it. All my breeders have one so I know exactly what I have. I have also tested all the breeds for the performance genes, and that has thrown up some interesting results.

Could you maybe tell me a bit more about the performance genes? Theres a company here that does them aswell and i was rather curious about it. Is it only for racing genes. or also for breeding? And what exactly does it tell you

Interesting. The german company that does these offer such a varity of tests i might have to read through all of them

Yes good to have a choice Leon, does it take long for results?

I think its about 2 weeks until you get the results

I use this company https://www.neornilab.be/en/tests-testi ... genotyping They also give some information on the research you can also read it in Deutsch so it might be easier than me trying to explain it.

I've just retired a 4 year old hen to stock, she's scored well on the road and two good places at 520 miles once 13hr48 on the wing only 5 fed birds on the day and once at 11hrs 45. She has tested AB for LDHA and TT for CRY1
