What some people down here do is use the light system. By turning the lights on every morning at, say, 6.30 or 7.00 am and turning them off at 6.30 or 7.00pm, the days stay the same length. This is useful for winter racing.as it hold up the wing moult.
I did try it the first year when I started back up, but never seemed right to me so changed to natural and stayed that way regardless of when I bred babies
