I have never been a fan of OLR. It’s not about testing the pigeons it’s about the pot of money at the end. In my opinion yes you’re going to lose a few off the loft, especially with the hawks, although I do think they are blamed for every missing bird. But once settled to the loft losses should be minimal. Also I know some people have bad trainers but most birds return in the end. Losses in training of OLR from short distances is horrendous. I didn’t lose one youngster in training. Then when it comes to racing still losses are for me unacceptable. Yes I lost youngsters racing, nearly half over 8 races, but these were in races where birds are racing to many different lofts over a large area and drag plays a big part. With OLR all birds are gluing to the same loft, usually with no other races from other organisations, so no drag or clashing.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.
