I have finally started going through my pigeons in preparation for 2020.
This is only my third year back after a ten year absence and only my 2nd season back racing. As some of you know I started off with 4 late breds in 2016 given to me by my brother (Andy123) in 2017 I bred from these and was also gifted birds from Des Coulter and a pair of Braspennings from Laurie Everett. In addition to these at the end of 2018 I acquired 5 youngsters of the Crammond and Langstaff lines.
I started the 2019 season with 33 old birds (not all of them raced) and bred 22 youngsters.
Again as most of you know I race in small club (Worthing and District HS) and some weeks there are only 4 or 5 members sending, we belong to the Southcoast Federation which is spread between Emsworth in the West to Eastbourne in the East and Reigate in the North and its tough to get in the top 40 especially from the inland races.
As a club we give cards for the first 4 places in each race so they are the only results I have listed.
OB
I had 13 old bird races up to 217miles.
In total I lost 7 birds and the summary of my results are :-
2 x 1st club, 1 x 2nd club, 3 x 3rd club, 6 x 4th club
Fed :- 1 x 27th.
YB
1 had 10 young bird races up to 155miles.
In total I lost 8 birds and the summary of my results are :-
7 x 1st club, 5 x 2nd club, 3 x 3rd club, 1 x 4th club
Fed :- 1 x 16th, 1 x 25th and 2 x 27th.
So in all a pretty satisfying season that has given me a fair idea of which birds I need to be breeding from next year and although I have ended up with far more birds than I wanted to over winter I am starting to put together a team of pigeons that can now be pushed a little further.
My stars were
16V17419 Grizzle from Andy 2 x 1st, 1x 2nd, 2 x 3rd 1 x 4th and a 27th Fed from Fougeres his first trip across the water.
19D11914 Blue Brasspenning/Coulter 2 x 1st & 1 x 4th
19D11916 Blue Crammond & Langstaff/Brasspenning 2 Γ— 1st, 2 x 2nd & 1 x 27th Fed
19D11918 Blue Crammond & Langstaff 2x1st, 1x2nd, 1x3rd, 1x25th Fed & 1x16th Fed
19D11921 Blue Crammond & Langstaff/Coulter 1x1st, 1x2nd & 1x27thFed
Out of the 12 raced youngsters I have left 8 of them took cards and all of them are from the Coulter, Brasspenning and Crammond lines. I think you can possibly see a pattern πŸ‘πŸ˜€ I just need to try and find a better hen for that Cock bird of Andy's as he has been paired to his full sister for two years and they have bred me nothing, apart from a couple of pretty ones that Lisa won't let me race
Hope you don't find this boring, all the best and good luck for 2020.
