We had 4 members sending 19 young birds tonight with 6 old birds in just for trainers.
I only sent 7 of my team this week as one of the others had burst a quill, one had been pecked in the eye and the another has most of its tail missing, hopefully they will be ok again next week. I still have a couple to get started and the one that only came back Sunday from Kingsdown the previous week. I also sent 5 old birds this week that all only had 1 race this season so I want to try and get a few more races under their wings.
I think the federation could be low on birds this week as a fair few of our members will be sending in the BICC Guernsey race.
It looks good at Blandford for a liberation tomorrow and should be another quick one, our birds have been on short rations so hopefully we will have a better trap.

Thanks all, waiting for news of the liberation but can't see a reason why the birds shouldn't get away ok. The weather looks good on route with a lot less wind than predicted, wish I had put those first timers in now :?

Birds have gone up at 9am in a fairly strong south west wind.

Thought it might be a slightly longer wait today as the wind didn't seem to be as strong as last week, well I did have to wait a little longer but only about 5 minutes.
My first bird arrived in just over 1hr 12mins, he messed about a little but was on the clock in 1hr 13mins. Then a couple of minutes after clocking him in another 5 youngsters arrived, they messed around a little more with the first coming in on 1hr 16mins and the next on 1hr 18mins by the this time my remaining youngster had also turned up so all 7 were home in around 6mins although not all had come in. My first old bird turned up in 1hr 24mins the 2nd in 1hr 30mins we then went out and found another 2 in the loft on our return at 1pm so we just have the one missing.
The result at the club this evening was :-
1st Club Me on 1757ypm, 2nd & 3rd went to Reg Hillier and Son on 1752 & 1747, 4th Club Sec Roy Olliver on 1701, 5th & 6th Me on 1688 & 1630 with 7th & 8th going to Laurie Everett on 1556 & 1554. Club returns were good with just 1 youngster and my yearling still out so in all another good race.
Next week we have a slight increase in distance going to Kingsdown which is 119miles to me, my biggest worry is we still have 5 races left and most of these birds are starting to moult round the head and neck and have already had all 5 races so I might have to start leaving some at home.
All the best.

Well done Trev, great result and returns. Good to have all the youngsters back in such a short time.

Great result, Trev. :D

Yea, if they are falling apart around the head a week off could be indicated. Let them clean up nicely.

I wouldn't be worried about them having had all the races. This one was an hour and a quarter. Nothing to a fit pigeon.

They are still on the improve, a week or maybe two off for the ones that are a bit rough in the moult, and carry on!
Regards,

Murray
