As said not sure with the black Sunflower ,may be an old wife’s tale ?? ,but they say to much is no good for them ?? : with the Brown rice reason is it holds water as well as being a Carbo source ,why Brown in stead of White rice ,it seems all rice is brown ,but then goes through a process to whiten it ,so brown as less done to it & is more Natural food for them ,back in the 60’s we learnt about brown rice ,we flew back in Tassie (Hobart) from the Mainland Back ,& used to Ship our Birds in Cardboard box’s on the Plane to the Main land ,mainly to keep costs down 6 to a cardboard box ,then a Frieghting truck would pick them up & take them by road to a loft to be held until liberation ,some times it could take 2 to 3 days to arrive at the liberation loft ,no water until arrival ,that sorted them out ,Hence the rice idea came into play ,& we started to get better returns , thank God for the Road Transport & Boating system they use now it used to be brutal racIng way back then ,cheers
