Been having a look at some of the history of our town. There are records as far back at 1000s. There are a lot of very old buildings in the town, ours is probably 400 years old. The dolphin is mentioned in the 1500s. At that time there were 3 coaching inns in the town with a total of 54 rooms and stabling for 250 horses. Wincanton is about half way between London and the West Country so an important halfway point back in the day. I discovered a lot of fascinating facts about the town but won’t bore you all with it. lol.
