Last night was our clubs AGM which follows the Federation AGM which was held last Sunday. Unfortunately I had my follow up appointment with my consultant so was unable to attend. I sent my apologies and hopefully today I will recieve an email to let me know how both meetings went, I don't think there were any big votes expected but we will at least know what our race programme is.

Not much has changed apparently and we are still waiting on the official race programme πŸ˜•πŸ˜¬ Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for that.
We did sadly have 3 resignations, two of these were members who didn't race at all last season. The others are a long standing husband and wife partnership who have been club members for many years, sadly they have had to call it a day due to the husbands ill health.

It certainly is mate πŸ˜” we are still a pretty strong club really but we have lost 7 members in 2 seasons so can't afford to lose too many more πŸ˜•

Had an E-mail from our Club Secretary today with the minutes of the Fed AGM and our Race programme, nothing exciting to report from the AGM as nothing has changed.
This is our Race programme for 2024, the distances are rough distances to my loft.
Old birds.
20/4 Upper Heyford 83mls
27/4 Rugby 108mls
4/5 Melton Mobray 133mls
11/5 Ilkeston 152mls
18/5 Wetherby 216mls
25/5 Melton Mobray 133mls
1/6 Ilkeston 152mls
8/6 Hexham 293mls Combine
15/6 Worksop 172mls
22/6 Kelso 338mls Combine
29/6 Ilkeston 152mls
6/7 Perth 404mls Combine

13/7 Clear week

Youngbirds
20/7 Bovingdon 60mls
27/7 Bovingdon 60mls
3/8 Upper Heyford 83mls
10/8 Melton Mobray 133mls
17/8 Worksop 172mls
24/8 Grantham 142mls Combine
31/8 Bovingdon 60mls
7/9 Ilkeston 152mls
14/9 Bovingdon 60mls

I'd have liked a 500miler for the old birds and a 200miler for the youngsters but this is much better than than it could have been, I've got a bit of work to do over the coming months but I'm looking forward it πŸ‘πŸ˜

Looks quite a good program Trev. You only have one old bird race shorter than my longest lol.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.

Yeah I did think that Andy 😬 you were always much better at the shorter races than me though, especially with your widowhoods πŸ‘πŸ˜ Hopefully the birds will fire well for you this year bruv 🀞 I need a few longer ones to stand any chance of winning one lol πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

That looks like a good old bird program, although, as you say a 500 mille would be good.
The young bird program looks a bit soft to me. 170 miles is nothing for a fit, healthy youngster. They could do well with a 200 miler and a longer one to finish. Maybe 230 / 250 miles.
In New Zealand the YB national was 300 miles and returns were usually great.
I think a couple of longer races are good for the distance bred youngsters who are not competitive against the speed youngsters.
Of course down here they send young birds 500, 600, 700 miles, and get them too! Not a fan of that myself.......
Greetings from the land down under. :D
