Unfortunately I had 2 more from Buster that had all 8 races but 1 went downhill after the last race and died. The other went missing off the loft a couple of weeks after the last race. Probably killed by a hawk.

Looking forward to seeing how they do next year.

This was a photo that was taken when one of the hens jumped on the phone while I was trying to take the photos lol.

Thanks both of you. I will be racing the 3 cocks on widowhood next year. The 2 hens will probably be used as widowhood hens at the start of the season. I have a few older hens that I want to race on natural. I think though that we are going to be able to race any age throughout the season next year. Although I may not necessarily going to race the youngsters any earlier I may well pair the widowhood’s up at the end of the old bird season and then could give the hens that have been used as widowhood hens a couple of race's once re-paired with the youngsters.
I will do some more posts on some of my other pigeons when I get time. Including any related to other members birds.

The problem I have to a degree is that I’m the shortest flyer in the combine from the current route but could be different if they go a different route next season. This means that as the combine is over a very large area depending on the weather and wind direction they can get dragged miles off line. But at least these have all sorted themselves out and returned. “Steve” has taken over the top left nest box in the widowhood section. I’m looking forward to seeing how they do on widowhood.

Looking good Andy and Buster, a credit to you both. As you say with youngsters it's about learning so as long as they get home it's all good experience which should stand them in good stead for next season. I'm looking forward to seeing how your birds perform on widowhood next season especially if you do change the route slightly 🤞😁 it is a shame that you lost those 2, I've lost a couple since we finished racing that just suddenly went sick and a couple that have gone off their wings 🤔 One of the ones that died was a nice 2 year old Laurie Everett cock who flew, Wetherby 216mls, Hexham 290miles and Perth 404miles, gutted about this one. I think they probably picked something up from the fields although time wise it did coincide with a hawk attack so could have been shock, also overcrowding and the damp loft probably didn't help.
I've got 2 of Steve's left, I'll try and get some pics and post some info once my loft is sorted.
