The flash in a camera wouldn’t be any good for taking eye photos. The pupil of the pigeons wouldn’t react quick enough. That is another very full iris. The inner circle is good but you can’t see much of the circle of colouration due to the iris being so full.

The violet eye is the better eye. The inner circle is nice and deep and wide, full of dark shading. The circle of colouration can be seen much better in this eye. It has plenty of graining. The iris has plenty of room in it. A much better breeding eye.

That’s ok George. It’s interesting seeing them and hope by putting a comment on how view it may help some. What you need for taking good pictures of eyes is a bright light where you are taking it. This means that the pupil will already be dilated before taking the photo so getting the best overall picture of the eye. Any flash, camera or phone, will be to quick for the pigeons pupil to react.

If you put the light on on your phone before taking the photo it would work. But a flash would be the same on both.
