I would imagine that it is more the lack of demand for it. I think the amount of different foods and treats for dogs and cats in particular and the large variety of all other accessories, far more than when first having the shop, have taken up space previously used for pigeon products in the warehouses. As Ad Schaerlaeckens, whom I email quite often now, says, grit is very important for the birds, but no one advertises it because it's heavy and there is not much profit in it. There is more money in a bottle of the latest fad to hit the market.
As Andy says, the suppliers make more money out of dog treats and throw toys than pigeon feed.
It's the same here. Go to any pet store and there are racks of dog coats and cat beds, and expensive 'Branded' pet food, but not a lot of bags of grain.
