Well, every forth Wednesday is Promo day. When the previous month's in store promotions are taken down, the new shop promotions are put up with the point of sale material, and the promo file is imported from head office.
A lot of stock needs to be ordered for the month ahead and it's a chance to have a good look at what you have and what you don't have. After so many years of doing it I kind of knew from one month to the next to the next......
Sadly, you can train people to do stuff. You cant transfer what you know. 30 years of experience takes 30 years to gain. And I want to help them during the change over.
So, I was there at 9 am to help them do the promos. I was there four and a half hours and was pretty buggered afterwards.
I should only be working 5 hours a week without it affecting my pension. I did about 10 last week and have done 7.5 this week already. So I am working pretty much for free.
That aside, I like getting up when I feel like it. Banjo kitten usually gets me up just before 7, I have a coffee and look at our forum, etc, and go out to the pigeons. :)

I tried to post how my pigeons are going, very well by the way, but this mongrel thing said I needed to be logged on to post on here.
HELLO?
I am logged on.
I can't be bothered writing it again.

Old habits die hard lol. I’m sure they’re pleased to have your help. Once you’ve moved they will have to go it alone.
That’s a shame that you couldn’t post about your birds.

After all that time I'm not surprised you are finding it hard to give up altogether lol, Im sure they appreciate your help. I'm not sure I could ever stop work completely but as you say it's much nicer doing it through choice rather than necessity.
Our late friend and pigeon man Laurie Everett was a butcher by trade and ran a shop with his brother in Worthing. After Laurie's brother sadly passed some 20+ years ago Laurie, in his mid 60s himself, decided to retire and sell the shop. On the sale of the shop Laurie agreed that he would stay on for a year to help the new owner find his feet. Well up until he suddenly fell ill and sadly passed away almost 2 years ago, now aged 82 he was still going into the shop 6 mornings a week to make the sausages, pies, scotch eggs etc.
