Nothing to do

I think this period now leading up to pairing is the worst time with the birds because there ain't much you can do for them other than sit and watch them go thro the moult.
Everyone says that keeping pigeons is a 365 day thing but I am finding it hard to have any involvement other than the normal daily routine.
There's nothing going on at club or fed level and not much interaction with clubmates.
Sure there's 1 or 2 small things I need to do to the loft etc but can't do them just yet and will only take an hour or so here and there but otherwise its pretty boring right now.
What do you guys do at this time of year.......
Not much activity on here either tbh.

This lull time of the year, I would be doing most observation. Building up to breeding season, and with the birds being over the moult. I would be checking the birds by hand making sure all was right. But that was my routine when i had the birds, others may differ.

If you lived a bit closer, Dave, I could give you a part time job. :D
I'm spending all day out there at the moment, and managed to injure myself again.
Never mind, I'm like a kid in a lolly shop.

Id take that job Murray but would want all my expenses paid including flights and transfers - oh and double bubble for w.ends, high days and holidays 😆 🤣
I figure that you are at peak season right now with lots going on - I'm soooo envious.
Is your injury incidental mate or have you gone and done too much?

Yeah, already worked out my pairings on paper Dev
I enjoy keeping my records and have a few notes to write up but after that nothing going on.
I thought about looking into eyesign again but I
think I have already proved to myself that there's nothing to be gained from it.
All I have to look forward to now is Doncaster where 4 or 5 of us will get together and talk pigeons for a whole day. - Then back to nothing for another couple of months.
Shame we don't have the shows in the clubs like we used to - was always a chance to get together for a bit of banter.

I think this is the time for a deep cleaning, after the moult. I would do a deep clean and blow torch all the shed. deep cleaning i really enjoyed, knowing the loft was all ready for. The breeding season, will be here soon so preparation. This kept me busy, and i was keeping busy outside the loft. Catching up on some garden work, keeping everything tidy.

I still have to build a proper Trap and fit the Bob Wires
I also still need to build and put a door on the 3rd section and have a bit of a sort out and build some sort of corn bin / storage unit
I also let the stock birds pair themselves up and a pair now have 2 Y/Bs these hatch out as I was away so i have these to keep me busy watching them grow.
Cleaning out everyday due to the moult feathers everywhere
plus I have to make a start on road training these late breds as the race season is over I want to get them out on the road
Then I have my first breeding season to get ready for and I am still looking at these birds picking out the Cocks and Hens making notes I have seen that there are 2 birds that stand out when it comes to trapping there always first in to my call.
