Feeding your birds

After the racing season, how do you feel your birds performed. Will you keep them on the same brand of mix, or will you be looking to change the feed?

I feed mine the same home made mixture 365 days a year.
When raising youngsters like they are now I put container of peas in each nest box as well so they can feed as much as they want.
If they are racing I tend to increase the maize if it looks like being a hard race.
Seems to work for me.

When I did race, I never blamed the brand of mix. I don't think there'll be many mixes that are poor. Many buy what THEY the fancier THINK is the best. I think in most cases the birds don't care. If you ask a 100 TOP fanciers which brand they use there'll be many different answers. The fact there is a vast choice to choose from tells you the majority are good, if they weren't fanciers wouldn't buy them, and the makers would stop making them.
There's a true saying 'it's not what you are feeding, it's what you are feeding it too'

So true king, this is why i asked the question. There are far to many excuses, for why birds are not performing well. Great feedback.

That's right.
Good pigeons win races.
It helps if they are getting a good diet, but the name on the bag means little.
I've seen pigeons win an what would be considered a poor diet now. An old bloke in New Zealand said that he "bought a bag of thet maize once", but he didn't reckon it made any difference so he went back to just feeding peas.
Another fellow had a shed full of nice small maize, so his young birds ate nothing but maize for the whole season. He won some races too.
Good pigeons are like good horses. They'll win pretty much regardless of what you do to them. :D
