That time of the year, sorting out how the racing season went. What birds will be moving into the breeding loft, or is there a need to bring in new stock.?

Putting one bird in the stock loft this year. It's a self bred, late bred so I may have to wait a while to breed from her. It's from 2 of my oldest stock birds, a 14 year old cock & 13 year old hen. Bred really in case this pair don't fill next year. (may even change this pair anyway)

its good to have a back up system in the breeding, how many times have we said. If only, if the family line is working. Go for it King.

Always good to keep some from the old stock you got incase its the last. which i wouldve done this with my cock from 2006 with the old kanibaal blood he still filled an egg 2023 early in the year i thought if he fills when its that cold he is gonna continue filling for the year so i decided to race the bird was a misstake bird got caught by bop and the cock didnt fill any egg anymore after. I have a daughter of him left but shes also from 2014 i hope to put her on my best breeding cock next year and that she still lays an egg to keep from her aswell.
Good to see some color on here tho looks like a good one

I did the same thing with my very old Thone' hen. Kept what I thought would be her last youngster, and then she laid another pair.
So I have three hens out of her, I would have liked a cock bird but there you go.

No new stock coming, I’m putting two hens from my No1 middle distance breeding cock into stock. So I’ll now have 5 daughters of him at stock and a son. That should keep me going for a while

I've got one pair coming which I hadn't planned on, closely related to my Billiondollarbaby. Too good to pass up. But it means I've had to stop talking about it and move a couple of pairs of yearlings on to make a bit of space. They were snapped up quickly so I don't know what I was worrying about.
On this season's performances I cant really see that messing about bringing in new pigeons, just because I can, is either required or even a good idea,
Week after week one of mine was clock bird for one or other of the blokes who had birds from me.
Twice, three blokes clocked my pigeons first in the same race.
To top off a nice year three of mine, from three different pairs, took the trifecta in the Ballarat Breeder's plate the other week. It is one of the special ring races here in Victoria.
I'm on a roll, and am reluctant to change things. And no, I'm not some sort of genius, I've just been very lucky.
