A reasonable day's work.

The Horsham club had their Breeder's Plate race and the open race from Broken Hill, 310 miles yesterday. We were quietly optimistic that we'd get a quid, and we did, but not quite the top prizes.
The wind was from the west all the way which pushed them out to the other side of town.
In the Breeder's Plate the "gun" flyer in the club had 3 in 1 second to take the first 3 placings. Again. He did the same thing last year.
One of mine was 4th, 4 minutes off the first one for my mate Terry. A grizzle cock off the grizzle Thone and the Billiondollarbaby. Again. :D His sister was 4th in it last year.
Kevin King was 5th and Terry was 6th with a pair of nestmates from David Cox, 7 and 24 minutes behind.
Then the tail got very long, very quickly. They were well spread out.
So we all are happy with that result.

In the open race a yearling of mine was 3rd, beaten 51 seconds. after a 6 hour fly. Last year one of mine was second in the same race.
We are well pleased with that, if the wind had been a bit more favorable things might have been a bit different but no excuses.

Next week we have 4 of mine in the Ballarat Breeder's Plate, they all arrived in a bunch yesterday in the open race and are hard fit and roaring to go. At this point the forecast is for a north easterly wind which will play into our hands a bit.

It's all very good fun. :D

Thanks Dave.
Yes, the Horsham club is very competitive. There are about 20 fliers all in about a mile and a half radius. Races are won or lost on one second. :D The racing is deadly serious. That's how I started sending pigeons out there. Someone heard there was this bloke from Bendigo who bred some decent pigeons. They are always looking for an edge.
The fact that my birds keep turning up at the top of the sheet is very satisfying, you have to be pretty good to do that out there.
I'm very fortunate to have made strong relationships with some blokes out there. :)
