Some fanciers

So done one emailed in about having a racing pigeon since last November, they contacted the owner who said I’ll come and collect the bird then realised they were over two hours away and blocked their number. Like some people strangely enough this bird was 20mins from my misses place so now I have it and we see what the owner says when I ring up.

I went and picked one up other side Birmingham over 2 hours drive about 4/5 years ago owner kept saying was coming guess what bird still here and he wont respond either, he from London

Yes it's bad and it makes less people likely to report stray birds, we will always send a courier for ours or a friend if they local to the report

Yeah I have just rang him, he seems like an elderly gentlemanly and slightly def. so his wife spoke to me, and all he said nah not really I don’t want it back 🤦‍♂️, some people

Maybe we need a system like the Dutch have, where I think the fancier has to claim the bird from a list of strays in the union advert, if not the reporting fancier, is sent the registration card, because the price of sending a courier is getting beyond a lot of fanciers pockets, especially pensioners. And if you look at Rule 111 in the R.P.R.A. if the finder doesn't state that he's not wishing to have the bird transferred to him, he should state so at the time of reporting.
