There have been some really good family lines over the years, this short video goes back in time. The Delbar lines was one of them, I rember them well. I had young blue bar youngsters.

Yes they were lovely pigeons, and very good in their day.
I had a Delbar cock named Dennis. Dennis the Delbar.
About 25 years ago he was still pretty much cutting edge. Now he'd be a foster parent.

Watching that video restores enthusiasm, after reading on here about the short time the sport has left, which I have been listening to for over 30 years, and it is still going. I only hope new starters, are not put off. The sport will continue, but not at the numbers it had at it's highest point, but in sufficient enthusiastic competition. The history of the sport, shows that numbers prewar were a lot less, and clubs were mostly in large towns, and had the words and District in their title, to encompass quite a large area. When the sport got bigger, we started getting clubs in every town and village, and now we are consolidating back to what we were. And the B.O.P. were not controlled at that time, but the sport still managed, they started getting controlled by the government during the war, to protect the pigeons that were being used by the army.

Good post Albert, I would hope new starters enjoy these type of videos. The history is a reminder to why the sport should keep going, and their is only us guys that can help. I urge the new starters to enjoy the site and keep getting involved.

The sport is on it's last legs where people want it to be on it's last legs.
In many places it has never been stronger, because people just get stuck in a do it.

It is strong still in a few places, but in Europe EVERY Country is losing members Murray. Declining members and ring sales show the decline is real.

And that's the problem, king.
If the sport is going strongly in some places, like it is here, and in a spiral in other places, surely people could look hard and ask themselves what lessons they can learn.
It will be a tragedy if the whole sport dies out because no one wanted to take the bull by the horns and fix some problems.
