Time goes so fast

It was over 2 years ago, that i met Christopher and Leon. It started in my writing an email, to them asking for some youngsters to be bred for me. I wanted them to enter the OLR the German Classic, good enough they said they would breed me my five youngsters. They were entering the race, so they would take my birds to the OLR. This was all agreed so we maintained contact, and i booked a trip to go over for a loft visit. Flying from Manchester to Cologne a short flight of 40 minutes, it was late when i got there. So i booked a room at the airport, the next morning i picked up my hire car. Then i drove across Germany around 2 hour drive, and made it to Hoxter. That was the easy part i thought, so now i had to find the Spieker home. It took me about 25 minutes, which i was really pleased with.
I arrived at the home and i could see the lofts, also what turned out to be Leons uncle seeing to his birds. I knew this was going to be testing in communication, so I just Said Leon. Good enough he went in the home and Leon came out. To my suprise Leon spoke very good English, plus i found out that he was a Liverpool supporter. His father was at work, but he was due home soon. There was a lot to see, and also the communication between us was paying off, Leon translator for his dad made it even better. Over the few days i was on my visit, Leon spoke about his desire for breeding, and what he hoped for in the coming years. New stock being added and he was clear on what he wanted and was going to get.
I could tell just by chatting to Leon and his dad, this was a loft that was going places. And I can assure you, It is and getting stronger, through all the hard work these guys put in, making sure all tasks are completed. Also their feeding methods and the day-to-day care of the birds remain paramount. A great loft visits, that adds to my loft visits while in the sport.
So a Question to Leon, How old was you, when you bought your first bird? tell us about this bird.
Do you and your dad sit down and plan for the breeding season, and how do you select your breeding?
You have other members of the family involved in racing pigeons. How did it help you to become involved?
Will you be adding any new stock birds, or have you got your foundation for future breeding?
Here are the breeding pairs, of the Spieker loft. I must say anyone buying a kit from these lofts. You wont go wrong.
