Convoyers and race controllers

I had the pleasure of convoying the fed birds down to the racepoint at Purbeck at the weekend.
I realised that the convoyers and the race controllers don't get enough credit for what they do.
They are all part of a big "family" that work together to give us the best possible chance of getting our birds home.
I know that the convoyers get paid but it's still a big ol slog and they do still have the best interests of the birds at heart. All very friendly helpful and co-operative.
In particular, a lovely guy from Preston (Highfield Racing Pigeons) who even made me a stunning sausage butty which went down well at 6.30 in the morning -anyone on here from the Preston area.
I think we just take this side of things for granted as long as someone else is doing it.
