Dealing with Cats

Has anyone got any tips for dealing with cats?
Obviously this time of year is critical when trying to give birds confidence around the loft, especially young birds going out for the first few times!
So, I'm having issues with the neighbours cat, I'm able to keep it away from the birds when I am home, but if I was to train the birds and leave the trap open for them, I have no doubts that the cat will be inside the aviary in no time!
Anyone got any suggestions, without harming to cat, I would like to remain on good terms with the neighbours!

Neighbours cat killed my best yb in London so I ?? in front of him ,of he went to vets with a nice vet bill ,,yb scored 8 times in 9 yb races was killed Sunday after last race I wanted to kill neighbour but wouldn't come out house so twakked he's cat straight of my loft in two he's garden .

Nothing against cats that's owners actually look after them but a lot of cat owners buy em let them run free they shxt in ya garden ,try to kill ya birds some times kill them ,,but it's OK for owners to let em do it ,,
I don't like that part of cat owners

Not for long..
Best bet is get a cat. Up until this last couple of years we’ve always had a cat. You can teach them to leave the pigeons alone but as they are territorial they keep others out.

I've certainly been to lofts where the owners own cat has been in the loft and/or sat amongst the pigeons on the garden quite happily without causing a fuss. You'd expect another cat coming onto the garden wouldn't be tolerated by the "home cat"

Thanks guys for the discussions!
I found the most effective thing currently is myself being stood out with one of them weed sprayers, if the cat goes toward the loft/birds it gets a sprits! As I say though that's only effective whilst I'm there!
I was planning on restraining it in the nest box of on of the sitting birds, and let them whack and peck at it for a bit while the cat couldn't retaliate, however after a couple of attempts at that it turns out I'm highly allergic the the thing!
Unfortunately that would rule out me getting a Tom cat myself too!

Was you really going to let it in the next box or you pulling out legs
This is a full adult cat isn’t it or a kitten
No it's a kitten not full grown, and also wasn't going to let it lose in the nest box
