Moved a few of my youngsters today, got them out this morning once it had warmed up, had them out again this afternoon & placed them on the landing board trap they had a look around for a few minutes then went into the trap through the bob wires will keep doing this if the weather keeps up, just a confidence thing hopefully they'll get what's required in the next few days.

Moved a few of my youngsters today, got them out this morning once it had warmed up, had them out again this afternoon & placed them on the landing board trap they had a look around for a few minutes then went into the trap through the bob wires will keep doing this if the weather keeps up, just a confidence thing hopefully they'll get what's required in the next few days.

I paired up Sunday 10 pairs
Dont let them hang about the roof to long Dave 10 days max and up
On the sky or on the loft
Within 3 days from now put them in a basket from 2 yards let them fly to your board
Use a garden cane to make sure they go straight in no turning around to look at stuff

I have late spring baby's there trained before there batched up at weaning there put on landing board 1 at a time 2nd day 1ft away from board 3rd day bit further by day 7 there 50 ft away other side of garden then in farmers field by end week 2 there up near next village there let out 3,4 days there bashed up 3 days later big handfuls of canary seed 20 mins before I let them normally 2nd day of seed they batch n go up like dots each weekend they get a toss when there 9 weeks old baskets out n there trained hard first 10 tosses all singles out to 8 miles once past 8 miles there up all together unless it's nose wind then its crate at a time ,,I find the period between 9 n 16 weeks old they must learn n learn well ,,my baby's are trained all weather's except if I see flying ants I see them baby's stay in the loft had some absolute nightmares when flying ants are around.

I used to have my YBs out on the trap within days of weaning well before they started to perch. Used to do it everyday until I was sure they knew how to enter the trap. Every bird knew how to get in the loft well before they could even fly.
