So what do members feed to this year's pairs especially the hen before any eggs have been laid, just thinking that all the goodness going into the egg's need to sustain the development of the embryo in the egg for 18 day's, do you just give grit a seed mix any thoughts on this subject that you've found helpful.

I don't give anything extra. They are fed as normal and just get their normal amount of grit.

Yes multi task is the normal feed. As for rearing they will be fed multi task as normal with beans, peas or mixed beans/peas in pots in the boxes.

I just got it in my head that a poor quality yolk would be detrimental to the growing embryo inside the egg's.

The colour of the yolk depends on what a bird is fed. (all the eggs I've broken before have always been yellow)
Pale Yellow: Suggests a diet high in wheat, barley, or white cornmeal.
Bright Yellow: Typically indicates a diet rich in yellow corn or alfalfa meal.
Deep Orange: Usually signifies a diet high in carotenoids, often found in pasture-raised hens that eat grass, wildflowers, and insects.

While it is a common misconception that darker yolks are inherently more nutritious, the overall health benefits (protein, fat, and most vitamins) remain largely consistent regardless of colour
