Maize whole can be stored a VERY long time under the correct conditions. Maize dried to a moisture content of 13% to 15% will be good for 1-2 years. In perfect conditions it can store up to 20 years.
I rarely bought Maize as a straight. When I did I stored it in a PAPER bag stood in a plastic bin.(airflow all round the bag) If it came in a plastic bag I swapped it to a paper bag. Only ever bought Maize one bag at a time.
Split/broken/cracked Maize should NOT be stored at all really. Should be used within 3–6 months.

In Stan biss’s video he said that he kept all his corn in suspended bins with zinc gauze sides to allow air to flow through it

Thank you King
Could I ask when you say should not be stored what would the reason be be also you mention 3-6 months I imagine that could well be the time
It’s stood from manufacturing to being sold
It’s one to avoid then it seems
Split/broken/cracked Maize exposes the starch. That can become rancid much quicker.
