Well done to Preece & Son.
They obviously had the birds in peak form at exactly the right time.

In Spain and France it’s between 35c and 40c. It is supposed to get into the high 30s here by the end of the week.

That's in the hot range alright.
Of course the pigeons are moving through the air a hundred metres or so above the ground, so the air is not so hot, but it's still warm.

Well done to all those birds that made it home and to the fanciers who gave them the tools for the job 👏👏 some outstanding performances and pigeons.

Fantastic performance, if you look at their pedigrees Barcelona is definitely in their DNA. The sire of their winner was 6th open and has National results as long as his wing 👍

I see the Dam is very inbred being from a brother and sister pairing.

So there you go.
If you want to win Barcelona, get pigeons that are bred to win Barcelona.
That is what you call a pedigree. Not just related to the good pigeons, but actually bred off the good pigeons.

The only thing I would say against that, and not knocking the Preece family at as they still had to get the pigeons in form and they got others. But this one was bred from brought in stock from Germany. If you have the money, like a few others I could mention, you can buy success. I wouldn’t get so much enjoyment out of that as breeding ones from a family that I have produced. Obviously you need the foundation to start from.

Yep, if you have the means, you can get there a lot quicker.
It's like Sydney trainer Gai Waterhouse who won the Melbourne Cup a few years ago with a horse called Fiorente. They went to England and paid a million for him. Saved having to sift through dozens or hundreds of horses looking for the right one.
