Yesterday the 16,897 international birds were liberated from Barcelona at 7.00am UK time. Among them were 221 from the U.K. It was always going to be a tough race with the heat and a headwind. There were no birds on the day anywhere. The winner of the international was in Belgium with many birds timed from Belgium and Holland along with birds from France, Germany, Luxembourg and the U.K. There have been 5 game pigeons timed in the UK today with G.M.Preece and son being first and fourth with a 3 year old and a 6 year old. J.Chipperfield timed a 4 year old to be second and Mr & Mrs Rhodes clocking an eight year old for third. The fifth pigeon was a 4 year old for Mark Gilbert. Well done to all 4.
Back just enjoying club racing for the time being.

2 more now. 1 for Traian.F.Ferentz, the furthest timed so far at 699miles, and a second one for Mark Gilbert. The 6 birds timed this morning are a 3 year old, 3 4 year olds and 2 5 year olds. I think with the ages of the pigeons timed in the UK so far it shows that you need old experienced pigeons.

There are now 20 back into the UK. All well over the East of the country, nothing over my way. Out of the 20 Preece & son have 8 and Chipperfield has 3. There was a 2 year old timed today but the rest were older with a 7 year old and a 6 year old timed this afternoon. They have done well to keep going in the heat today.

They certainly have done well in this heat and massive well done to the Preece family I did see the results last night and see Mark Gilbert not had so many back which is most unusual for him

And that is probably true, although I wonder if many of them have been given the chance to achieve it in earlier years.
I wonder how many of them are on their second attempt.

There have been several comments about the heat. What sort of temperatures are they talking about? 25c? 28c? 33c?
