Just read the minutes of the Oct RPRA meeting, seems like the proposition to de recognise the NWHU has been deferred until a meeting between the parties

And so it should. With the number of fanciers in freefall we should be sticking together not trying to recognise unions.Bowbroom wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 3:24 pm Just read the minutes of the Oct RPRA meeting, seems like the proposition to de recognise the NWHU has been deferred until a meeting between the parties
On that logic the RPRA should just sell rings in England? They are the ones taking the mick. The RPRA covers the whole UK and sells in areas covered by the NWHU, WHU, SU, NEHU. they even sell rings OUTSIDE the UK ie Channel Islands, Republic of Ireland (IHU) and the British Dependency of Gibraltar!goose1 wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 4:54 pm Surely the NWHU should stick to the North West! They've members in Scotland and various other parts of the country that aren't in the North West, taking the pee they are. And I've been a member of the NWHU and send sometimes in organisations affiliated to the NWHU so I've nothing against them as such but they are taking the mick. They should return to their original boundaries and that be the end of the matter, for me that would be the best for everyone.
Who's mentioned ring sales?king wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 5:35 pmOn that logic the RPRA should just sell rings in England? They are the ones taking the mick. The RPRAs definition of 'United Kingdom’ is different from that of everybody else. They say that's ok because their rules allow it. But don't think another Unions rules should allow it? And all because the RPRA want money from a few ring sales?
The RPRA's dislike of the NWHU go's back many years to the days when it was first formed. Some grumpy old men within the RPRA just can't let it go. I thought when they died off it would go away, but it seems the vendetta continues still.Bowbroom wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 5:21 pm Extract from NWHU rules
The objects for which the union is established are; (l) In the first instance the regulation of the sport of homing pigeon racing in Cumbria, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, In the first instance the regulation of the sport of homing pigeon racing in Cumbria, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, Flintshire, Denbighshire and areas of North and West Yorkshire within the Ordinance Survey grid reference squares SD & NY.
(II) Organisations and / or individuals outside the above areas are be allowed to be affiliates of the union at the discretion of the management council and compliance with existing membership rules.
They opened up their area of operation to the whole of the ok to “Affiliates” I guess to sell rings and increase revenue, this is what got up the RPRAs nose and led to the mandatory registration on NWHU rings for a fee and eventually to the proposition to derecognise. If they agree to stop this I think the aggro will go away
You said 'Surely the NWHU should stick to the North West'? They HAVE their area has not increased, only they area of their ring sales.goose1 wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 5:39 pmWho's mentioned ring sales?king wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 5:35 pmOn that logic the RPRA should just sell rings in England? Anything to do with the NWHU should remain in the North West of England in my opinion. Why anyone flying or keeping pigeons outside the NWHU would want a NWHU ring on their pigeon is a strange one to me. Its like me putting SHU rings on mine it wouldn't even enter my head. Personally I think it's because some have their own little vendetta against the RPRA.king wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 5:44 pmYou said 'Surely the NWHU should stick to the North West'? Whist I'm not racing now, I do use NWHU rings and have done for some 25 years. The reason I started using them was back in 2010 the RPRA tried to force on it's members rings with the ETS lugs on. So I bought NWHU rings without them on. The quality of them, ease of reading and cost made the decision easy. I've carried on using them to this day. Any birds I give to others to race pay the RPRA ring 'tax' and nobody loses out, the RPRA still make money. For 20 years I was a dual member RPRA & NWHU. When I stopped racing I resigned from the RPRA, why would I pay £38 just to buy a few rings at TWICE the cost as an individual member?goose1 wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 5:50 pmAnything to do with the NWHU should remain in the North West of England in my opinion. And again just to be clear I've nothing against the NWHU Terry Phifer who is one of the main men lives in same town as me and Terry is a great guy who runs a good little local club up here affiliated to the NWHU.
