As I work I tend to feed in the pots in the morning once ybs hatch first thing in the morning
I use a good fat mix with a few pellets in one pot the other pot has breed and wean
The have on the floor in hopper tic beans 24/7

I use beyers grit and mineral and usually have some clay blocks

Noted mate ive got my birds on roundabout now so plan to breed some out the race loft and also from the stock loft think gunna try and just do 1 round so all my young are ready same time instead of trying to complicate it with a second round this year

Plus a salt lick in the aviary

I do like gemthepax on the corn a few days a week I feed in the pots somethings I use yeast with a flax oil

I only breed from stock so pair in February so my first round wean when the clocks change to give me a extra hour after work plus my 2nd round hatch 10/15th April which for me is the perfect time for your yb team

You could start to pre pair weekends so it all goes smooth
Some calcium or dried yougurt on the hens isn’t a bad thing
Plus get the weight right we’ll get the internal fat off them
Either miss days grub a week or do tight feeding to about 2 weeks to they pair then feed them a little more with some hemp mixed in

Two teams of YBs is hard work, we used to float the stock birds eggs after sitting for 7 days under the racers and let them go down again which they did within 7-8 days so all the youngsters were only a couple of weeks or so between them, it’s all about making life as easy for yourself at the start. If you’re racing obs my advice would be to fly them natural at first until you get the hang of it

Just wondering if yous guys would advise Mark to use black minerals during breeding or is there enough in the beyers grit.

Ive had the birds on roundabout for about 3 weeks and ive noticed a massive difference in their flying on natural they was maybe doing 20 minutes a day now the hens are easily doing 1 hour + and the cocks are doing between 35-45 minutes and the birds know the routine of moving between sections now so its definitely helped even if its just loft flying alone

I got no choice Bowbroom I don’t want early yb and the thought of my racers pumping near the first races doesn’t sit with me I can’t think of why pigeon fanciers think that way
Sorry to say but flying natural in a good club he will be last every week why learn a system that won’t use to sprint again on

Not used them for years always got to watch them if your loft holds damp
I tend to feed grit that I know there clear asap
My cocks only get 3/4 grams a day for example of the beyers grit and mineral after there evening feed
Not keen on to much mineral in the loft
so damp mineral this time of year is out, what issues would it cause, what about when breeding still the same no mineral's

My grits and minerals get wet at this time of year. Do this this mean nasties lurk in them?
