Question - The Nutritionalist

Reading all comments on fats/carbohydrates and proteins from the various people ie Mike,Neil and Tony. Why is that the professional pigeon food companies Nutritionalists all basically say the same, ie feeding fats last 3 - 4 feeds before race. As the above named would give carbo boost before basketing for the shorter races. Which I must agree with them does make more sense. All athletes seem to take a good uptake of carbo before their events.
Interesting to see responses as these companies are paying good money for their guys developing feeding.

I seen what they say pal but until you try different your all ways going to be the same ,,
And get same results. Like few yrs bk my birds got fat every day race was cancelled put back until Sunday then the race point was changed to shortest race point in the programme 65 miles to me I was fuming thought race was over before I sent birds I sent 40 birds had 33 together this 33 birds was 169ypm in front of next pigeon in fed so then I learned loads fats don't hurt birds but over feeding fats and not working birds hard would probably be daft ,,that week my birds went 20,20,42,42 miles am n loft flew 20 to 30 mins pm .

Yes I also think the same as you why fats Friday
Anthony understands fats more
I always fed carbs but Wednesday night Thursday morning fats before going back to carbs
You seen Anthony advised more fats
Any way this got me thinking
I had 2 hens in my shed this year not going to 350/400 miles
I fed all the birds 50 per cent fats for 3 days I should have picked the 2 not going up but I never so they birds went Thursday early so these two hens were left
I didn’t let them out Thursday as I thought I won’t get you in possibly
I fed them high carb mix just a ounce

On Saturday one of the hens was 1st fed the other my 4th pigeon
So that’s got more interested in fats than my normal Wednesday night Thursday morning

On the other hand 2022 I fed my cocks on barley one week I never let them out they went out Thursday night fed in to full with Gerry and were 3-4-5 fed so no fat but also no loft flying

See why I confuse myself now 😂
I had a season birds wasn't right feet went of colour they had full week in loft 100 percent barley tea in drinker whole week sent them 177 miles had 9 together first 5 in fee 5 bird limit ,
So they done OK like that as well lol.

I think whatever works for the individual then just tweak it a bit as the distance goes up, Mark Gilbert feeds whatever for sprint, middle & long distance races & is very competitive as we all know. Richard Wade feeds a lot of beans throughout the week so that works well for him, Pat Halliwell varies his feed sometimes he feed just barley all week other times it's a branded race mix, it doesn't make a difference they still perform well. Mike Lycett used to hand feed his cocks in the boxes it wasn't a set amount more by hand & watching what individual pigeons required, he still had fantastic results with his team of pigeons.
We tend to overthink a lot of these things & make it more difficult with feeding jmo.
