If you grew up racing in London and birds done a turn you wasn't in result so trapping is key ,,condition reflex is what's taught day in day out and bird taking more than 20 secs to enter gets locked out ,1 bad apple ruins a team ,I watch videos of birds returning from race n owners have no control birds doing laps n gliding around sitting on house roof this makes me fill sick watching it ,,what idiot sends birds racing hoping they might trap ,,Jesus get the work done at home before racing ,birds that lap regularly u must question are they racing or homing home because racers bust the trap homers arrive n look happy.

I can tell how important trapping is to you Ant! This is only reinforced by the people you refer to admiring in the sport also! I know for a fact that on my last race (recent video), I lost 3 club positions between the bird approaching the loft, til it actually clocked!
This is something I have done much better in the past seasons, but obviously slipped on this year's trappings!
What age do you start trap training your birds Ant?

I can remember over 40 years ago having a cheq hen which flew over the shoulder of the women next door while she was hanging the washing out. Although the hen only finished 2nd to a widowhood cock flying 2 miles less, the image in my head is as clear as yesterday.

See ets ain't like the old open door racing old birds or yb on stall trap where u had to master trapping ,
Colin porter in the east London fed could never figure out how I could clock 5 baby's in 7 seconds on a t3 with out help but I would practice working from right to left under the stall trap pulling rubbers of the baby's leg with a t3 tied around my neck with a dog lead so clock was top of chest height as well ,,things you had to do but I preferred it over ets ,ets don't give same buzz as manual clocking because birds had to be in trap or in loft not on trap .
