All the RPRA can do is inform its members of what is legally required and make representations on behalf of its members, the authorities will decide what is to happen

The EU do like the UK impose racing restrictions when there are Bird Flu outbreaks. Vaccinating racing pigeons won't happen. Poultry aren't even vaccinated. Vaccination doesn't stop birds getting bird flu.Trev wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 8:09 amI don't know what restrictions other countries impose, but as usual it does seem that we are one of the only countries implement restrictions etc. I do have a friend in Brazil who races and they do have quite restrictions over there when it comes to PMV and Avian Flu.Andy wrote: Mon Sep 01, 2025 7:01 pmThere’s cases all over Europe Devo, but it’s only over here where pigeon racing is stopped. We get no help from the RPRA who don’t seem to be doing anything for us. At least Ian Evans was fighting our corner when he was CEO.Devo1956 wrote: Mon Sep 01, 2025 5:18 pm Where i am in Spain, i was walking down by the canal. On my way to the market, there were 4 ducks dead by the canalside. There may be case here too.
There is a case at the RSPCA site at west hatch near Taunton but the RSPCA are keeping that quiet.
I do think we will end up having to vaccinate in the future, whatever good that will do, I'm afraid avian flu is here to stay and we are going to have to work around it.
I do agree that the RPRA do seem to be as much use as DEFRA and the APHA at the moment.
