We got 1 of the 3 back today. The 2 I’m missing will almost certainly turn up as they have been a bit of hit and miss.
The one we got was a grizzle cock from Trev on 834 ypm. He was our first bird 2 weeks ago from Wakefield and had previously flown Guernsey on the South. The funny thing is that as a youngster from his only race I had to pick him up from Portsmouth 50 miles away after being reported.
In the BBC he is provisionally 9th section 101st open. The winner was flying just 97 miles doing 1549 and on the East side of the country. The second pigeon was over 200ypm behind on 1310 and in Norfolk. All the early birds were down the East. The winner of our section was doing 993ypm. We were the furthest fliers and apart from one in Wales the furthest West.
In the CSCFC he is provisionally 16th section 94th open. The division’s of the sections are a bit different in the CSCFC and the BBC. The winner was in Portsmouth doing 1178ypm and again all the leading birds were in the SE section. In the section the winner was doing 1013 and in Blandford. All the birds in the section were East and South of us. He was also only the second yearling clocked in the section with very few in the open.
All in all very pleased with his performance. When he returned he was roaring in his nest box and handled great. You would never have thought that he had just flown for 9 and a half hours. That is it now for our old bird season as they are all yearlings and have flown either Guernsey on the South or Wakefield or Hexham on the North. Some have flown both routes.
