I enjoyed spending several months educating a small team of young birds. After adding and subtracting I had a kit of ten that I would have lined up against anyone

First race was last Sunday, on the Saturday I had one sore in the wings after dropping it's 10th flights. So there's nine.
I was pleased with my 'kids', we are a long way out of town but mine went very well. The final, final result was 5 flyers sent pigeons, 4 got pigeons in race time, and one of ours won it by 130 metres per minute.
But. I lost one, and one came back with all the signs of having been chased into a wire. Feathers off it's breast and carrying a leg. So now I'm down to seven. I fear she may have been the lucky one. The hawk probably got the other one.
Then, I have a small blue bar that was really bred for stock, has had all the tosses and came zooming home from the race. So I need to stop it before it becomes a hawk's lunch.
The one that dropped both it's outside flights is still not even half way up on them no matter how hard I try to kid myself.
So I might have six to go on Saturday, unless the wheels fall off something else
