Marking for Vire

This morning was marking for the first channel race of the season with the Central Southern Classic from Vire. By all accounts it was very busy at the marking station with a good number of birds being sent. I don’t race the channel at present. Several of my club mates have sent. It could be a difficult race in a NE wind but will suit those over this way.

Good luck to them Andy, I hope they get a decent race.
I'm hoping to send across the Channel next weekend with the BICC for their first race.

I didn't like that at all.
Geoff and Catherine Cooper saying, "we are slowly dying and the sport will die with us".
No no.
The sport is going to be fine!
Young people like Leon in Germany and all around the world!

That's a good advert for pigeons, shows them in a good light for once.
I'm afraid they are right Muzza, world wide I'm sure our sport will survive, but over here the small, back garden lofts are getting fewer and fewer, local clubs are getting harder to find as old members are packing in or dying, with very few youngsters coming in to take their place, over here it is definitely becoming a sport for the elite. It's getting too expensive, young people are finding it harder to buy their own houses and are unable to keep birds in rental properties, and these modern houses that are going up everywhere don't have gardens big enough for pigeon lofts.
It will keep going, but not as we know it.

The Vire birds have been held over. Thunderstorms over the liberation site and moving up into the channel. Also fog in the channel.
Looks better for tomorrow.

I hope the weather is okay and that the birds will return safely tomorrow.
