I haven’t got many youngsters but what I have are starting to range well now. In with the youngsters are 8 spare old hens. On Monday they went off when let out in the morning. After an hour and a half 15 of the 22 birds came back. During the day I had another 3 youngsters turn up. We were out in the garden in the evening one of the spare hens turned up minus half a tail. I had one more youngster turned up Tuesday but am still 2 missing.

Ooh. That's not good.
They've had a good old bashing. You might be lucky to see the other now.
I'm just waiting for mine to get hit. I've lost the odd one or two in the early days, but they fly very fast and high now, they are a bit hard to hit.
But it will happen, sure as eggs.

That's not good Andy, very frustrating and not what you needed.
I know I mean about the Sparrow hawk, but at least she does usually disappear for a few months !!
I hope it doesn't affect the rest of the birds.
