Her Dad took 6 weeks to win a BICC Certificate of Merit award!

My goodness - and here's me just trying to get a bird home.
You gotta hand it to mister Gilbert. The sire of this bird is an exceptional specimen.

I think it’s the blood Dave and he has the best
Along with perfect loft conditions and other advantages like being a top fancier
Mark Bulled always tells me it’s the blood at the distance that is the most important thing above feeding etc

I'll tell you how all this has come about.

I've always had what I'd say was a "working knowledge" of Mark Gilbert's pigeons.

I knew how his main birds were bred and what they'd done.

About a week ago a good loft commissioned me to do a piece of work for them. Basically they are getting into Distance racing and wanted a thorough understanding of all the principle pigeons at Mark's loft, the impact they'd had, the performances, the gene pool etc. All in all it's been about 25-30 hours work which has now taken shape and i've been able to put together all the details (and more) that was asked of me.

You cannot fail to be impressed with them - so from time to time you'll see my highlight certain "special pigeons" like the one above known as "Darran 800"

Here's her father the brilliant "Darran" and his pedigree

Not only is he an inbred G.Son of "New Laureaat", he's also a G.Son of "Olympic Romee" and "Kanibaal Barcelona"

I certainly wouldn't argue with Bulled, I agree 100%

I'm always happy to absorb advice from someone who's achieved more than I have ;)

Just looking through the ped of Southfield Darren and cant help but notice all the top names in it.
Gyselbrecht
Alex Rans
Jelle Jellema
Nico Volkens
Batenberg.
Its great for MG, but if Im honest, it gets me thinking - how do "normal" fanciers compete with that?. I couldnt even afford the import cost on one of those birds.
You all agree with Mark Bulled that blood counts when it comes to the distance, well theres not many ppl that can afford the best in Europe to that degree and I wonder will mr Gilberts' sheer dominance have a detrimental effect on distance flying in this country.
