This looks very similar to what I make up to feed to 200 miles although I don’t have the black maize
What’s people’s views on it with some added fats maybe wind forecast dependent .

It's decent Neil, and I would certainly be looking to add anything up to 20% fats
Another "option" would be to leave the fats out a bit and introduce oils earlier in the week
But as you say, this can vary week on week depending on distance, temperature, speed and how hard a race they've just come off the back of

Cheers Mike , I can’t see a fault with it all looks easy to digest and pretty decent ratio of carbs to proteinMIL wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 12:51 pm It's decent Neil, and I would certainly be looking to add anything up to 20% fats

Plus with me having to changed my measured feeding that 10 per cent barley is ideal as a guide
It does look a nice mix Neil. But I still feel that a lot of the feeding is fanciers choice. There are so many different mixes out there all claiming to do this and that and some quite different. The way fanciers feed too is quite different and all get results.
I was talking to Dave Staddon at our club meeting yesterday. They have developed their own mix called Chaos mix which is made and marketed by Bamfords. The Staddons are probably the best fanciers in the South West. They have been trialing this mix over the last 2 seasons. They use it for old birds, both sprint and distance, and also for young birds. They don’t break their pigeons down and haven’t for years. There is not one grain of Barley in the mix. I know some like barley while others don’t. From the 8 young bird combine races they won 4 and were only beaten by fellow club members in 2 of the others.
This is their mix.

I like a carbohydrate base like Gaby beyers or gerry which is a fantastic mix then you can add protein or fats to it as the distance or wind dictates
Bamfords peas look fine but I also find there wheat/ barley a poor quality it kind of looks dirty
In 2018 I fed there red rosette mix and I was 5th club i thought this isn’t right so sent my samples to David coward Talbot he said you have fungus in the crop that wasn’t there a month ago have you just changed your corn which I had
So I treated with nystain went back to VL had 17 on the drop the win the fed
After that i won’t race on Bamfords

It’s protein / carb / ratio looks good plus easy to digest Devo
That looks fine, you could use that no worries.
It really doesn't matter, Beyers, Van Robaeys, VL, etc, they all do similar mixes and you can take your pick. The pigeons don't care.
I think HOW you feed is more important than what you feed, and what you feed is less important than what you are feeding it to![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
