These old great strains in my opinion die with the founder. Future generations can be said to be bred down from these old strains but direct can only come from the masters themselves. All of these “strains” nowadays are all breed down from the old strains but given the names of the fanciers whose lofts they come out of, and so they should.
Have to agree with you Andy, once the birds leave the founders loft they just become descendants. I remember years ago I was in the loft of a guy call Jan Pol raced as IJJ Robool he'd recently won an international. I asked him if they were Jan Aardens, he replied maybe 50 years ago :lol:

That has to be true Neil these 'new' families don't just appear out of thin air.
