I understand m8 but I hear this weekly off flyers like it's a achievement, I got them all home ,I don't understand that there's no prizes for full returns so I can't see the big thing about full returns it's nice but racing pigeons is about racing n winning surely .Andy wrote: Wed Jun 12, 2024 4:53 pmI’m just not one for training. By the time we start racing some of those in our club who have been training heavy have very few left. I was 2nd & 5th from the first young bird race and had the best returns in the club only dropping 1 bird. I dropped another in the second race but did lose a few in the third which was a terrible race. After that I lost hardly any before the end of the season. The ones left had all 8 young bird races.NeilA wrote: Wed Jun 12, 2024 3:18 pmI think I will have 65-70Andy wrote: Wed Jun 12, 2024 2:19 pm I’ll start about 3 weeks before the first race. Will have around 3 tosses at 9 miles and 3 around 18 miles and that’s it for me.
Do you not train short in the week between races or with your radius I guess it’s pointless
But as you say with our combine they are going to get pulled all over the place. When I just raced in the nationals they would get half a dozen trainers before going 100+ miles and being dragged all over the country.
I've found in these wide feds if the wind is below 10mph u can pull good birds n get good results against the odds the dummy's go past but there dummy's the good ones seem to be OK, if wind is say 13mph n over ya pissing in the wind with top pigeons ,,this is from my experience in them feds.NeilA wrote: Wed Jun 12, 2024 9:11 pm Pointless really I don’t know what the answer is
I think I would send to Brighton but it’s awful way to enjoy your hobby
These wide feds are just daft only a quarter of the convoy can win
But I guess less fanciers means it’s got to happen
Be hard for sure ,big teams are hard to race I've tried 60 n failed prefer less so things done correctly n not rushed.NeilA wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2024 8:53 amMakes sense thatAnthony webster wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2024 5:19 amI've found in these wide feds if the wind is below 10mph u can pull good birds n get good results against the odds the dummy's go past but there dummy's the good ones seem to be OK, if wind is say 13mph n over ya pissing in the wind with top pigeons ,,this is from my experience in them feds.NeilA wrote: Wed Jun 12, 2024 9:11 pm Pointless really I don’t know what the answer is

I guess being so spread out helps a bit from individual lofts be crap in a wide fed against say a top fancier with 80 away each week in the prevailing wind
I be honest Neil I never care what others do I couldn't care if they had 350 each they have to feed n send em pal ,all I know is more you have the less enjoyable it becomes,NeilA wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2024 9:59 amI think it’s circumstancesAnthony webster wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2024 9:11 amBe hard for sure ,big teams are hard to race I've tried 60 n failed prefer less so things done correctly n not rushed.NeilA wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2024 8:53 am
Makes sense that

It you have 2/3 partners it’s easy on your own and working impossible I think
I notice some people just race a big team of ybs and don’t bother with old birds to make things easier
I would rather peck up if I couldn’t race old ones
Just wondering, about this point you made here, how far are you taking them? And do you have to alter the feeding when training this much?Anthony webster wrote: Wed Jun 12, 2024 1:58 pm I don't start to about month before racing but some times I will toss 10 times in one day n toss regularly mine might get from 1st July until last race between 80 n 100 plus tosses .
