Going to the dump.

As a follow on from my last post about my project I had an old freezer to get rid of.
It was one that we used in the shop for a few years and was taken over as part of the fixtures and fittings when we brought the shop. It stopped working sometime ago. It was obviously second hand as it had Walls ice cream written on the front lol. We tried taking it to the dump a few years ago but they wouldn’t take it as it was deemed as commercial waste. It’s just been stuck at the back of the shop since but now needs getting rid of before I take the shed down. I spoke to them at the dump this week and they said that I should be able to get the council to take it but there would be a charge. I phoned the council and they said it would cost £70 to have it taken away. Which was fine until I told them what it was. They then said that as it was deemed commercial they couldn’t take it. They did give me a number of a commercial waste disposal company but the removal costs would probably be a lot higher.
So I decided that there was another option lol.
I have started breaking it down and will bag the bits up and take them to the dump. They won’t know what it was and I will just throw the waste into the non recyclable waste.

Clever, Andy!
Sometimes you have to be a bit cunning to beat bureaucracy.

They do make it ridiculously hard to get rid of some rubbish these days, there is ni wonder we have such a big problem with fly tipping !!!
You might want to hide that insulation well as they can get a bit funny over that too 😒

All of the polystyrene has been broken up and bagged up. Will be taking it all to the dump next week.
