NeilA wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2024 3:15 pm I should add I have a few stock I haven’t raced but I’m ok with
In the future amd I’m heading that way all 8 stock pairs will have been raced to gain a spot in the loft
Next year I’m changing things
So 16 pairs to race 8 stock pairs I will slip the eggs under racers and allow the other 8 to rear , I dont want the these ybs but I’m trying to race the cock to the box more as I may race a bit further with hens and if I lose a hen I don’t lose his focus so much
If I was sprinting to 200 miles only
I wouldn’t bother to breed I have proved that it’s not required
Looks a bit tricky Saturday

How many do you have left now from the 24 or so ?
I have lost 20 percent but it’s strange as I 50 percent are lost from gifts from people who wanted me to try them out which was kind of them
Of my own I would say 10-15 per cent lost
Kind of people to give them but I gave 8 lovely babies away to make room , you live and learn but the people meant wellTrev wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2024 9:32 pmMuch the same for me Neil, most of the birds I've bred from my original stock are still here, it's the new introductions I'm losing !!NeilA wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2024 7:56 pmGood

Is it being born in the loft ? Maybe that’s why one lofts have such massive loses
One thing we know for sure George is that OLR (especially in the UK) have what most reasonable minded fanciers would class as horrific losses
An example
This snapshot was taken yesterday
The day after liberation
The RPRA OLR is now down to just 43 birds
And that was more than 24 hrs after being libbed

I think I have seen enough information on uk one lofts to make my mind upDevo1956 wrote: Thu Aug 15, 2024 12:05 amSo Neil, you dont know a lot about Olr. but you make a statement over OIR. loses?NeilA wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2024 9:57 pmKind of people to give them but I gave 8 lovely babies away to make room , you live and learn but the people meant wellTrev wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2024 9:32 pm

Maybe you think like the examples Mike just posted are decent I call them terrible
Will you stop themAndy wrote: Thu Aug 15, 2024 7:51 am From the 21 I bred and from the 14 I started training after disposing of 4 and losing 3 off the loft I have 7 left. So a third of what I originally bred or half of what I started training.
Soon ?
I’m thinking of this week and next then stopping as that will be 5 races and there started this week to show there naturals
