Are 1st hen from messac this year if i remember correctly she didnt have blood that you would buy for distance racing

Suppose it goes back to what we mentioned before, do you really need an out and out distance pigeon to win at 497 miles as that race was, in this day and age? She was 11hrs 27 mins on wing. Now I've no idea if she'd had done close on 14hrs as the second hen did but the 2nd hen wasn't winning.

Even my little stab at 412 the 2nd pigeon was mostly hereman which many say won’t go much past 275/300
The one the just beat him did have 50 per cent Gaby so more suitable
That why for now to I know what I’m doing I thought try what i have then if they fail at Thurso and if I have done my best I will then know I need something else

That's it mate you will have certainly sent them ready to do the job. You did send to Thurso didn't you? That the 412 miles yeah?

I should have tried Thurso but I thought try that next year it’s 480ish
I had 6 x 2 year old hens but two were hit by peregrines although the 5 first I got were all yearlings at 412 although I think my best 2 hens were on the injured list by then
After I didn’t send to Thurso I wished I had but was playing safe and a bit new to it

Thurso still there to aim at next year Neil. Obviously been a very good first stab this year.

My opinion/advice was tailored to Neil in his circumstances - and having limited room and 8 on the night from 412 miles I still think all in all my advice was fair and reasonable

Now, in the case of say Worm and yourself who live in a different part of the world, your obstacles are different - so the advice/opinion would be different.

No I do get that Mike it just really frustrates me that the lads up here are kind of overlooked a lot of the time because they have no chance in a national. I mentioned last week, first time we sent with NFC 3rd week in May we timed 7 from 8 at 440 miles within 1hr and 40 mins and nobody outside Cumbria will have batted an eyelid and probably rightly so because they weren't near the top end of the result, but they had no chance of being even before the lib, I know nobody flew a better race that day though. I'd absolutely love to fly down country where they have the choice of 'nationals' now I'm not saying for one second we'd be top of the pops id never say that but at least I know we'd get what we deserve. And there's plenty of other lads up here who would more than hold their own.

I do jump on the defensive of this area sometimes because it's just a different world to just about anywhere else in England.
