Tomorrow we're look at forecast and it be totally different. Bbc ,met office dead opposite at moment I hope we race Saturday as planned can't see it raining 8 hours solid in April,,and all these 0.1 mm 0.4mm rain its a joke that ain't even rain .

I hate the damp weather for racing and colder temps I don’t think it does much for form for the future

I think 11am onwards be fine Saturday there all hour to 2 hour max races no rush getting them up in air early ,,if its Sunday don't matter but I bet Saturday is a brilliant day and a bit of cloud I like better than clear blue sky's,,clear sky's I hate race day.

Every time I look its different. Not worrying over wind I'm middle of fed so birds just have to be in front batch n finish hard ,,

I started my distance journey with the Van Hees and Hagens but soon realised they didn't go far enough.
My current family are from the lines of Bob Beasants Noble Dream/Tuffnut lines.
Stock from the Sunderland partnership of McSween and Sexton including stock from the Marseilles Int winner of Rieks Lonsaine (Holland)
Top Tornado lines of Edmund Tournier (Holland)
Stock from Stan Harding (Midlands)
The family are still work in progress but I do feel they will get me closer to where I want to be.

The Bob Beasants Noble Dream/Tuff Nut lines are though a bird I once owned 'Little Tuff-Nut' he was the smallest cock bird I ever had. Brian Denneys base birds were Van Hees bought at LPW in the late 70s before he raced in the NFC. They were responsible for his Conintinal Queen family, which were the base of his NFC team of birds. I still have a Van Hee cock in the loft an 11 year old bred by Dixon & Sons (Ian Dixon) of York son of his 3 times Bordeaux cock flying 629 miles.

That's a coincidence King - Little Tuffnut is the sire of the hen that I have at stock.
Lady Tuffnut paired to Sashas boy and Noble Dream paired to Diamond Princess are the G. parents.

The section winner from Perpignan was a Van Hee
Neil had them when I first decided to have a go at the distance. Great birds bur didn't quite get the distance I had hoped for. The single entry fro Barcelona was also a Van Hee. I think these were a bit like the plodders you were talking about Neil. That was a few years ago now but I'm convinced I have the tools for the job now and hope to start seeing some good signs this year.

I had the pleasure of watching arguably the best team of Van Hee's in the UK racing 2 gardens away from me for over 20 years, so it's fair to say I know them better than most. I know what they're good at, and not so good at. Dad's loft was the only loft in the West Midlands to win the Federation from Saintes (488 miles) with the Worcester, Wolverhampton and Walsall Federations (that was with the Van Hee)

One thing they're not is plodders. Especially when you drop them into a race 10 hours on the wing and more. That's when they come alive (assuming they're being well managed of course)

Yes Mike, I wasnt intending to demean the Van Hees
mate. The ones I had maybe just weren't good enough or more likely it was me that just wasn't good enough.
I purchased my original Van Hees from Ian Workman of Ashby de last zueche (wondered if you might have known him) They were from birds of Champion Fallowhill superstar who I think was bred by Captain Cutliffe and I believe he was a g.son of Motta.???

The choices you make when first starting up are among the moat important that you'll make

Experienced guys would tell you, if you're brand new to the sport with no real experience of pigeons before, to go to a loft where the birds are tested on a week in week out basis and acquire birds from them as opposed to a Stud.

If I were you I'd get myself down to your local club on a Saturday night each week and listen to what's going on and learn as much as I could

One thing I wouldn't be doing is excepting gifts from local lofts they will treat you like a Ash tray to get rid of rubbish,
Follow the results in your federation and near by federations and in late July approache the lofts dominating the result write the numbers down of birds there winning with and offer them tidy money per pair for late breds of them birds ,,
Once u get them put lights on 24 hours aday in loft and they will drop flights fast by mid November turn lights of and they will body moult ,,by Christmas they will look like old birds ,,pair them up and start with baby's bred in your loft with there own immune system if you buy from every tom dick n Harry you fetch problems in from every where n them birds will spend more time on medication than drinking clear water.

I'm in south Liverpool L25 area and have been looking for clubs local to me but there doesn't seem to be any I have asked about and can't find anyone with pigeons around my area but I will keep trying.

thanks for the information and advice Anthony, I have been looking locally for other pigeon flyers but no joy at the moment or even a club local to me, I have heard people say tat before about getting freebies of everyone and his mate, I would like to start up on the right foot and get good birds in don't really want to be wasting my time taking any bird if I only end up with rubbish.
Where would I find the results for Liverpool clubs ?

The Midshires fed is at Stony Cross. Some of mine will go (80+) but only as trainers this week.

How did they come Dave pretty fast I imagine

Couldn't monitor my birds Neil. Our convoyer just found out he got Leukemia and the stand in driver wasn't available for a Sunday race so I stepped in to give the lads a race and took the birds to the racepoint Sat night for a Sunday lib.
But yes they were fast doing around 2200 I think.
