We just breed more to compensate for the losses which imo is a mistake, how we move forward with how it is after the weekend I'm not sure, but we need some radical changes in what we are doing at the moment this just isn't working. If we keep on making the same mistakes year on year & we don't learn from it your going to get the same result even if the management is good look at the results over the weekend & tell me that everything is ok because blatantly we all have a serious problem with pigeon racing & the very poor returns that a lot of experienced fancier's across the country encountered.
The problem is your working with a closed shop, and have been for a great number of years. As memembers of the RPRA, you dont get a say in anything. So there is a need for change and a big one too, lets look at racing over the UK. There should be a vote on going indepent, were each club would come under a main combine in the area. All subs and membership would go to that combine, now this would happen all over the country. The rings on youngsters will be own combine rings, to help relocate the bird soon as. Combine marking stations central for all clubs. So all combines would be responsible for their own division, with a monthly meeting held in the most cenral area of the Uk. To discuss the new format of moving the sport forward. The RPRA have had their day, and if there is no change. Then the same goes for the members. A no-show of confidence should be shown, before its too late.
Whist the RPRA is not fit for purpose. Your idea would speed the demise of the sport even quicker. The vast majority of fanciers fly in local clubs, take them away to central mark and fanciers would leave the sport in droves.
Even 40 years ago when my Fed central marked for some races, both the number of members sending and birds going dropped dramatically.
Now imagine marking say 20 miles or more away EVERY week. The smaller clubs of less than 10 members would disappear fast.
Think everyone know my thoughts on the muppets at the RPRA and I agree with everything that you say King except that any level of changes required are so drastic that it has to be a combined effort, no individuals clubs or feds making changes will do any good for whats required. The only ppl that can instigate that level of change is the governing body and they can't see beyond their next "jolly" so don't anyone be holding your breath cos it ain't gonna happen.

I have never darkened my youngsters and am still competitive through the whole young bird season against darkened birds.

My club headquarters is 20 miles away for me. I make that journey every Friday and Saturday night during the season.

@andy that's impressive and unorthodox in today's world I like to hear people doing old school and methods more natural and competing well

which ever method works for each fancier works why change it, but for me its good to hear different ways it'll be trial and error from the beginning i think until I find one that works best for the pigeons

I think that many forget that ALL pigeon clubs/Feds/Nationals are PRIVATE clubs and CHOOSE to affiliate to the RPRA. If they are not happy with the RPRA they can leave and race elsewhere or fly to there own rules. NOBODY should want the RPRA to get involved with how members race there birds.
With many now not racing from France, it should be easier for changes that suit like minded fanciers. Just takes a few to leave the RPRA at start the ball rolling.

Just asking the questions King because I don't know the ins n outs.....
Would the Rpra stop issuing those organ8sations with rings?. What about racepoints/transfers?
What would be the consequences for individuals if they didn't pay their RPRA fees.
Do you know what happened to the ppl that refused to pay the levy last time round?

Yes the RPRA would not sell them rings, but rings are easy to obtain from elsewhere.
If you don't pay your RPRA fees you can't race in ANY RPRA run races.
People who refused to pay the levy won't be racing now. Unless several have got together to run the own races.

Leaving the RPRA is not a thing an individual can do and still race. You'd need the whole club or Fed to do it.
