A man in Skegness as won nrcc racing in uk but he raced in Australia for 30 years he was telling me story's of racing in Australia and the heat ,he said it would get that hot you put bedding in the bath ring the water out and then lay that over yiu two sleep ,I asked how he fed pigeons for that heat and he's answer was he fed birds on barley and linseed only said a European mix they wouldn't be able to fly for 5 mins in heat ,he told me in Australia there's a thing they call the milky way and when it's dark there's a milkyness two the sky and pigeons fly through night he also said he clocked baby's from 500 miles on the day fed barley and linseed .
He's name is mick Broome he's in bad health with breathing but still was putting up good results 3 yrs back he won nrcc on East wind flying to Skegness a eastly loft so a tremendous win .

There was a thing I read the other day about barley ideal for high sharp flying but maize for longer lengths flying but at a slightly reduced pace
Any strength in that ?
Thought tippler fanciers flew on barley mostly with a little seed

Mick Broome said if it was 90 degrees each week u could race on barley n linseed in uk he was a carpenter but said he won enough Money pigeon racing in Australia each season he didn't have to work ,
Was one of them guys I could listen two for hours .

When you think of it Anthony you could possibly feed barley ( I know it’s not for you) with protein powder
Then introduce fats as you think they need it
Only issue could be is the intake

There's certain lines of pigeons that seem more adept/prone to this ability too
