so are you only racing your Hen's this year
what is the reason behind this and you not racing cock birds

South for me Tony, I only get 120miles to the coast
then it's over the channel for me.
My dream is to have a bird in the clock from Barcelona
760 miles.
I personally get more of a buzz from racing over the channel.
Think everyone will agree that flying the distance is a lot different than the short sprinting races which is why Neil says your not going to be able to do more than one discipline with a small team.
The 3 disciplines are generally
Sprinting
Middle distance
Distance

2 gift pigeons of Clive Yates 1 was a grandson if his Midlands national winner and the other one is a grandson of the machine from the up north combine

When I raced south I only went to 480 miles
I had 3 plodders like hour behind at 350
So one year I sent them to Barcelona
I got 2 of the 3 I never got one on he winning day
So I went to work came home and found one in the garden
Clocked it
27th I thought only 300 went so that’s shit
That’s due to my sprinters and London mentality on the north road
The pigeon was lost training next year
I gave the other one away
Having raced sprints I realised that sprint racing conditioning them to be there week in week out needs a really skilled fancier
At Barcelona its blood

That will upset people but it’s true getting a pigeon to Hone isn’t that hard
Winning at 600 miles is different
Mine just homed I don’t value them

I know where you are coming from Neil. I have had a 1st section from Perpignan on the 3rd day and
had one back from Barcelona on the 7th day.
I realised of course these birds were just homing but I was literally jumping up n down like a little kid. For me just to get them home was a hell of achievement and has inspired me to improve my stock and try again.
With the help and advice I have had from you guys I have a very real chance of achieving my dream.
Without being melo-dramatic, no sprint race has given me that feeling.

I know the felling your on about me and me dad sent 3 to messac 320 miles to us if i remember right and got one back on the day 9 hours something I was buzzing surprised me that a week later we sent the yb training and a blue hen that we sent messac came back at first I thought it was a young bird and thought bloody hell that was quick the looked agian and it wasnt a yb it was this hen went sent i got it in had a proper look at it and it was covered in oil all around its head and neck

I started my distance journey with the Van Hees and Hagens but soon realised they didn't go far enough.
My current family are from the lines of Bob Beasants Noble Dream/Tuffnut lines.
Stock from the Sunderland partnership of McSween and Sexton including stock from the Marseilles Int winner of Rieks Lonsaine (Holland)
Top Tornado lines of Edmund Tournier (Holland)
Stock from Stan Harding (Midlands)
The family are still work in progress but I do feel they will get me closer to where I want to be.

I don’t race over 285 normally so I need more birds plus the peregrine issues

o right and have you had a lot of issues with Peregrines throughout your race season
I believe this is an issue for most pigeon people
