Well that shows OlR can be a very good thing in the sport, If we look at the sport today, In racing pigeons in the UK. There may be around 15,000 members of clubs, and at the yearly rate there is a 7 % loss due to many things. There is not really members replacing this loss. And with the loss prices will be going up to cover cost, so it may be a case of breeding birds and sending to OLR. Who knows how long the sport will go on, But I think OLR will be there for those that wish to use them. Well done to Mark, great to read.MIL wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 9:39 am I've been involved in 2 OLR since 2007 - both occasions I came out of the "project" with a handsome profit but I got no enjoyment from them so didn't go into that environment again
Here's an example of Mark's success.
He enjoys it and is a wealth of knowledge in the One Loft environment

I am really pleased.
I don't know the figures but I imagine the overwhelming number of participants who take part in One Loft Racing do so at a financial loss
That might not be everything to some, but it appeases others
Personally I just find it hard to get excited about something that's not in my control

I don’t blame anyone for enjoying one loft races
To me as I have said it’s not the same sport as I enjoy and if in time that becomes my only option I would rather pack up seeing your own pigeons flying or the race day buzz is what I enjoy .
But good luck to you Devo in your hobby

Mike I agree about control, but it is you that has control over the breeding of the youngsters. Now this is gold to me, the art of selection of pairings, to breed youngsters for different types of OLR.MIL wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 10:32 am I don't know the figures but I imagine the overwhelming number of participants who take part in One Loft Racing do so at a financial loss

But each to their own, I still say it is part of racing pigeons. I would say this is why OLR is a very hard part of the sport.
We differ, and that's what makes the world go round
No point in breeding something good if its not managed right
Me, I'd have more fun taking 2 dogs a walk and gambling which one did a dump first
But others like it, and that's their perrogative

More has beens that are well passed there sell by date, some folks just never know when to get off living in the past, not taking nothing from them
Sadies Lofts home of decent birds just a useless loft manager, and now a confirmed loser but proud
