So true mate, just keep doing what you are and be happyMurray wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 8:44 am No, George, health is not more important.
I have lung diseases which will kill me, simple as that.
So, I have bred more youngsters this year than I ever have. I don't know how long I have here before my Saviour calls me away, so I just plan to do whatever I want, being reasonable, before I go.
Keeping pigeons won't kill me. I am dying already. It won't save me, but I bet it will prolong my life.
The best medicine is a happy heart.![]()

Great to see natures helping hand or is that beakMurray wrote: Sat Dec 02, 2023 7:33 am I have a pair of very old pigeons, who don't hatch anything anymore. But they are healthy and happy, so.....
Anyway, a few days ago I found the old hen in another nest box busy feeding the youngsters. They were about 7 days old, I had put rings on them. I took her out, but she was not going to be deterred!
So I got a clean nest bowl and grabbed one of the babies, and put it in their box. Now the old pigeons are busy pumping that youngster until it nearly burstsand the parents are very happy that they only have to feed one.

Don't blame you Murray there is only so many years you can work, put your feet up and enjoy your twilight years with CatherineMurray wrote: Wed Dec 27, 2023 7:46 am Thanks, Buster.
Yep, we are looking forward to our retirement cottage, which has a big shed for me, and fruit trees and all sorts of good things. I am still worrying about how the pigeons will cope with the move, but they simply have to.
Funnily enough, one of the service stations is run by the company I worked for for more than a decade. But no, I will not be wandering in and saying, hey! Guess who?![]()
For me, at 68, it is time to retire.
