Thanks Danny.
I have a niggling doubt that either of these are up to the job. Their mothers, I have no worries about.
The fathers, both pigeons that were brought in to "improve" the shed. We will see.
But the same hens are paired to different cocks now and I'm just a bit more confident.

I'm always willing to try something different. I' just as willing to not make the same mistake twice.

It's easy to breed them that can go 75 miles an hour. I've got pigeons that can do that,
The final race in this OLR is from 420 miles. Breeding pigeons that can fly at those speeds for 400 miles at 8 or 9 or 10 months old is harder.
Last year they did it twice in a fortnight.
It's a different game.

If they have an auction after the olr finishes buy 2 birds that completed the programme @murray this gives you a good base to breed from for the next one

That's why I brought Free Beer home after last year's race.
She had flown 22 training races and 4 final races before she was 9 months old. 420 miles twice.
This year she's paired up to a half brother to her father. Keeping the stamina and "get home" genes, plus maybe a little more pace.

It's easy to breed them that can go 75 miles an hour? That's 2200 ypm How many you bred that have done that? You don't breed a bird to fly that fast, it's ALL down to a strong tail wind.
Here in the UK NO bird has ever flown 420 miles at 75 mph.
I'm guessing the two races when you say they flew 75 miles an hour twice in a fortnight were very short races with strong tail winds?
