Life in Bealiba.
Really is stupid but pretty much the same here trying to cut everything to the core then expect the country to carry on like normal, thankfully we haven't had the power off but they have been on about for a while now, cutting it for so many hours per week, hope that smoke stays up wind and folks stay safe, as I said in other post when we in Greece we lived at the bottom of a mountain and was completely surrounded by trees and when the fires started it was always the mountains that got it we had some very close shaves but always managed to stay safe

Hope they get it sorted soonestMurray wrote: Tue Feb 13, 2024 9:07 pm Yesterday saw the spot price of electricity hit $16600 per Megawatt in Victoria, while across the border in NSW it was $20 and in Queensland $60.
Storms caused major damage to the already weakened power infrastructure and hundreds of thousands of homes are still without power today.
Some may have no electricity for "days or weeks".

Typical, they was supposed to be starting to replace all our gas pipes last October they turned up 12th February and started said will take 8 weeks but they started in the middle of the street so no ideas as to when we getting doneMurray wrote: Wed Feb 21, 2024 8:51 pm The men from the power company came to replace the old wooden pole on Monday. Four big trucks with cranes and hoists and augers and equipment. About a dozen blokes with hard hats and Hi Vis. Lots of pointing and arm waving. The foreman, or 'Team Leader' came across and asked if we were aware of the interruption to supply. I told him if that means you are turning the power off, then yes, I am aware.![]()
We were going into town to do some shopping, so I assured him it would be no inconvenience at all.
When we got home, the big concrete pole was lying there, they had packed up and gone! Haven't seen hide nor hair since!![]()

Stay safe mateMurray wrote: Fri Feb 23, 2024 9:42 pm This morning I went outside and found hardly any smoke in the air. The wind must have changed during the night.
Last night the smoke was very thick. The bush fire 'watch and act' warning area has moved closer to us overnight and is now only about 20 miles away in a straight line. The fires which are not under control are a lot further away than that so we should be safe.
